Made my first granny square!

Today's soundtrack as I prepared to record my episode on The Red Shoes: Takashi Kokubo's Barcelona—Gaudi's Dream, Yoichiro Yoshikawa's Aqua Fantasy, and Mathias Grassow's Taosis. I've been discovering some gorgeous ambient music lately on YouTube.

O, to take what we love inside,
to carry within us an orchard, to eat
not only the skin, but the shade,
not only the sugar, but the days, to hold
the fruit in our hands, adore it, then bite into
the round jubilance of peach.

There are days we live
as if death were nowhere
in the background; from joy
to joy to joy, from wing to wing,
from blossom to blossom to
impossible blossom, to sweet impossible blossom.

Li-Young Lee, from "From Blossoms"

See the flowers, so faithful to Earth.
We know their fate because we share it.
Were they to grieve for their wilting,
that grief would be ours to feel.

There's a lightness in things. Only we move forever burdened,
pressing ourselves into everything, obsessed by weight.
How strange and devouring our ways must seem
to those for whom life is enough.

Rainer Maria Rilke, from "See the Flowers"

A little too abstract, a little too wise,
It is time for us to kiss the earth again,
It is time to let the leaves rain from the skies,
Let the rich life run to the roots again.

Robinson Jeffers, from "Return"
