The Brambly Blanket is complete! It is my version of this tutorial. I changed things about the original pattern and made it my own. I spent about two months crocheting it. I am proud of it. The name comes from the show, Brambly Hedge, which I started watching as I made the blanket.
Crochet gives me such a sense of calm and joy. But, more than anything, crochet has given me a connection to life, perhaps even a way to stay alive.
Know this: every blanket is evidence of my aliveness. Every blanket is proof of the choice I make every single day to keep living and creating even when I would rather not be on this earth without my mother. Every stitch holds my tears, my grief, and my heartache but also my love, my passion, and my magic.
These blankets remind me that my life is in my hands. Everything I have, I created on my own. No one gave a thing to me. My blankets bear witness to my endurance. They say I am still here, and though many have abandoned me, I will never abandon myself. I will keep making my own life and forging my own path.
