You've Got Mail (Nora Ephron, 1998)

I've watched it my entire life, and I never tire of it. It captures a more innocent experience of the internet—not as a space where we perform ourselves but where we disclose parts of ourselves that remain hidden in daily life. That was perhaps the promise of the early internet. You could type words on a screen and feel known or understood. That's certainly why I started posting online many years ago, but I'm not sure I believe in that fantasy anymore. At some point, the people typing the words must face one another and discover how to love.
